Blending fun

Today I decided to try something new.  I wanted to make a card for my boyfriend, not for any particular reason, mainly a just because card.  I absolutely love Close to my Heart products and how they coordinate, however, sometimes I challenge myself to not use their products and create something from scratch from my craft room with those less-used supplies.  Today I worked with Tim Holtz products and distressing inks.

I blended the background using distress ink and a blending tool.  I coloured the stamp (not Tim Holtz) that I bought at Hobby Lobby a while back using distress markers.  A little tip! If you colour a stamp, it dries up a little, if you breath on it using your hot breath from your mouth, it helps the stamp remoisten!

I added small "small gears" from Tim Holtz to accent and some rub-ons (also TH) to create a nice background.  I went to put on the last rubon and my cardstock was still wet! I ended up lifting up some of the colour and ruining the bottom of the paper.  So I tore up the edges and coloured them with the Black Soot Distress Marker.

I mounted the inked paper onto Kraft Resist Cardstock.  I liked using this product and the quality is comparable with CTMH.  The only thing is that this card is messy. My messy fingers ruined this card three times :(
