Gradient Stamping :)

13:23

Hello everyone!
I am so excited to be taking a new card class that focuses on simple cards and techniques.  Today, I tried out gradient stamping for the first time.  Now, normally I perfect techniques before posting but I am all about accepting mistakes and the process it takes to perfect a technique so I am posting my first attempt - flaws and all!

I really like this technique, it is all about getting the best blend of colours and the best stamp to show it off. I used this adorable dotted swirl stamp from the Love Life stamp set to create this technique.  This is one of my favourite stamp sets ever, I actually had to buy an extra one because the other one was so used (and abused by not cleaning it) that I couldn't see through the stamps anymore.  I learned my lesson, and began cleaning those stamps with our stamp cleaner.

You can see the sides are the problem area for me, and that is why the perfect stamp is necessary for this technique.  Since I don't have that stamp, I improvised and I think if I did this card again, I could do it without the messy spots.

I finished off the card with a little colour seamless ribbon (that you can dye ANY colour with inks)  This is the ribbon without any dye.  I then used versamark to stamp the happy Valentine's Day stamp from the Valentine's Day Stamp Set (retired), covered it with white embossing powder, and used my craft heater to set it.  Then over top, I stamped with adorable swirl form the Mad about You stamp set (retired).

This is a closer look at the gradient technique.  I stamped the bottom with barn red ink, then the next layer is 2nd generation barn red, dipped once in cranberry Ink.  The following layer is cranberry, followed by 2nd generation cranberry dipped once in hollyhock ink.  Then the top layer in hollyhock.  This is also a great way to use up scrap paper and create your own patterned paper.
