Beautiful Travel Journal

15:49

Begin with the blank gift journal available in the current Close to my Heart catalogue (justinehovey.myctmh.com)

Cut the background 5x7.  For this journal I am using the Sophia Paper pack: the cardstock colour is hollyhock and comes with the sophia paper pack.
Then I cut this piece slightly smaller than the 5x7 hollyhock sheet and glued it on top to make a nice colourful background.
I then cut out three squares (all colours and paper available in the Sophia pack), hollyhock, the foral white pattern and a white cardstock.  I layered them as shown.
I found the white a little boring so I took a sponge dauber (little black finger sponge on the green paper and dipped it in smoothie ink because I don't own the hollyhock colour and I decorated the border of the white cardstock.
This is how you decorate the border of the white, dip it in the ink and splatter it where you like.
I attached the squares onto the green background.  You should have the hollyhock paper behind the green paper already, I added that feature when I finished the project that is why it is not included in the pictures until the end.
Using a circle cutter, I cut a piece of white cardstock and stamped it using the Take a Picture Stamp (located on the wings paper pack page in the catalogue) I used topiary ink for the green inked stamp.  I then used the circle cutter and cut a bigger circle using the pink floral paper.  Then I glued them all together. Set aside for now.

Here is the stamp I used for most of the project.  Take a picture - it is so beautiful and I have used it so many times.
I stamped the camera on with Versamark invisible glue ink and embossed it using cranberry embossing powder.  Then I took my craft heater and embossed the camera.
I then stamped the swirl image in the bottom right corner, this stamp is from the You and Me kit.  The You and Me kit is a special during the month of May (see former blog)

I cut out the letters using my cricut cutter and added them: I used pear and hollyhock to make the letters.

I slipped the circlular piece into the top of the square
Slip the layout into the journal and you are finished.  How easy was that?
